The area of the measuring point of the pyrometer is called the “spot size”. We should pay attention to the ratio of the distance to the spot size, or D：S. When determining the measurement distance, the target diameter should be equal to or greater than the spot size being measured. If the target is smaller than the measured spot size, the Thermometer will measure the temperature of the background object at the same time, which will reduce the accuracy of the reading. 

4)The distance coefficient

The distance coefficient (optical resolution) is determined by the ratio of D:S. If the pyrometer must be installed far away from the target due to environmental conditions,  also to measure a small target, we should choose a high optical resolution thermometer, the higher the optical resolution is,  the higher the D: S ratio will be. If the thermometer is far from the target and the target is small, we should select a thermometer with the high distance coefficient.

5)Response time

The choice of the response time of the Infrared Thermometer(which belongs to the Thermal Imager) should be compatible with the situation of the target to be measured.

6)Signal processing function

The Infrared Thermometer(which belongs to the Thermal Imaging Camera Fluke) should have multiple signal processing functions such as peak hold, valley hold, average...

These accessories can effectively solve the environmental impact and protect the thermometer, and then help achieve the accurate temperature measurement.

The window material must have sufficient strength and pass the operating wavelength range of the thermometer used. It is also necessary to determine whether the operator also needs to observe through the window, so we should choose the proper installation position and window material to avoid the mutual influence.
